NOTE - the first step is a background check, handled by a third-party vendor. Neither NOMAColumbus nor NOMA National will see your data.
Attendance at a Volunteer Orientation session is required. Dates and times for these will be emailed.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
All volunteers working directly with campers need to complete one orientation session.
The boring reason is to fulfill our insurance requirements.
The FUN reason is to meet other volunteers like you - someone who wants to help grow equity and inclusion in the design professions by supporting design exploration by students from underrepresented communities.
-
NOTE: Volunteer orientation is only required if you will be working directly with campers.
We have two identical sessions planned but you only have to attend one. Check your email for dates/times.
-
We want all volunteers and campers to feel safe. To provide peace of mind for campers and their families, we ask that volunteers complete a background check. NOMA National contracts a vendor to complete the checks and all your information remains confidential.
NOMAColumbus will never see your information, no matter what the outcome, though NOMA National will notify us if a volunteer shouldn’t be working with campers.
-
Camp headquarters is the Knowlton School of Architecture at The Ohio State University.

-
Students will be placed into groups of 4-6 and paired with a Camp Volunteer.
Camp Volunteers will be assisting with activities - creating visioning boards, programming exercises, evaluating community needs, model building assistance, etc.
The important thing is to hang out, help campers explore concepts and share what you know. The learning grows from your connection.
-
A detailed schedule will be provided and reviewed during Volunteer Orientation with all the when, what and where.
